About the Film
Come On, Boy is an intimate, cinematic look at the life, survival, and musical evolution of Memphis singer-songwriter Alex da Ponte. While the documentary follows his journey of learning to sing again as a trans man, it is fundamentally about the human underneath the label.
From navigating a painful divorce and single parenthood to crawling under a house in the dead of winter to rescue a litter of puppies, this project highlights a shared human experience while leaning into much-needed joy. In a cultural moment where trans stories need to be heard louder than ever, Come On, Boy centers on the universal threads of love, family, and resilience that connect us all.
The film features an evocative, raw soundtrack pulled directly from da Ponte’s acclaimed indie-rock catalog.
